Although video streaming platforms have taken advantage of short-form content for almost a decade (remember Vine?), TikTok changed the game. The platform grew slightly in users (or creators) after its founding in 2018 but exploded in popularity with Gen Z amid the global pandemic in 2020. Today, TikTok has one billion monthly active users, primarily under the age of 24, but it is gaining interest with audiences across all age groups.
