Summer is here, and vacations are underway, but our dedication to enhancing the Khoros next-gen community platform hasn't slowed down.
In this blog, we'll explore three exciting feature updates that elevate the next-generation Khoros Communities solution: an expanded developer experience, the introduction of Localized Communities, and the availability of on-demand member insights.
We’re thrilled to bring you some fantastic updates that make the developer experience even smoother for our customers who utilize dev tools as part of our next gen Khoros Communities solution.
First, we've published the Aurora Software Development Kit (SDK) to NPM. This enhancement enables developers to receive regular, controlled updates easily and empowers them to tailor various plugin points to fit the unique needs of their community, all through a Git repository.
If you're wondering how to get started with the SDK or need additional details for installing and utilizing it effectively, our developer docs on Atlas are your go-to resource.
In this release, we’ve also rolled out support for custom metadata. This feature allows you to create and define pages and fields tailored to your community, such as adding a unique field to a registration form and then showcasing that information on a user’s profile for example.
What does this mean for you?
The Aurora SDK simplifies managing updates, making it easier to keep the development environment up-to-date. Moreover, developers are empowered to customize and tailor various plugin points, enhancing the flexibility and adaptability of their development projects.
Eighty percent of consumers are more likely to do business with a company that offers personalized experiences. With the support for custom metadata, community teams unlock countless possibilities for personalizing the user experience and driving engagement.
In today’s global marketplace, businesses often serve a diverse customer base that speaks various languages. To address this, we're excited to introduce Localized Communities in the Khoros next-gen community platform.
With Localized Communities, you can create multiple language-specific versions of your community. As an admin, you can set up different segments within your community, each aligned with a specific language. For instance, you can have an English-speaking segment and a Spanish-speaking segment.
What makes this feature stand out is its user-friendly approach to language matching. When your customers join the community, the system automatically directs them to the segment that matches their browser's language settings. Members can easily switch languages using an easy-to-find language selector in the upper right corner of the community interface. Member-generated content, however, is not translated into any other languages.
At launch, we're supporting English and Spanish, with plans to add more languages next month.
What does this mean for you?
With Localized Communities, community managers improve user engagement by providing content in a user's preferred language. This leads to higher participation rates, more discussions, and a stronger sense of community.
Supporting multiple languages also allows community managers to reach a more diverse global audience, attracting new members from different regions and expanding the community's reach and influence.
Gone are the days when you were restricted to analyzing your community's data for only up to 2 years. Thanks to the latest enhancements in the Analytics API, you now have the power to gather essential insights about your community members throughout the entire life of your community.
Here’s a look at the on-demand member metrics you now have at your fingertips:
Fully registered members
Clean and current members
Active members
Members by rank
This update benefits community managers by expanding the scope and depth of data analysis capabilities from a mere two-year period to the entire lifetime of the community.
Armed with comprehensive insights on member engagement, community managers can develop more targeted, effective strategies for fostering a vibrant, active, and well-maintained community.
We’re excited to continue bringing fresh features to the Khoros Communities solution. As a sneak peek, below are some innovations coming in the next few months:
Knowledge base (KB) guides: Group knowledge articles into an organized set of content, such as “chapters” and “guides,” for easier navigation and a better user experience.
Community Firehouse: A near real-time feed that captures key meta-data of everything happening in the community, enabling community managers to quickly take action when needed.
GenAI Summaries: Summarize discussions and comments across community conversations with GenAI.
