API Authentication

REST API Authentication is used for back-end authentication over HTTP for:

• server-to-server calls

• content syndication to client applications external to the community

• administrator-level tasks performed on behalf of a community

• other administrator-level changes performed using the Community API

API Authentication options:

• OAuth 2.0 authorization grant flow

• Session key

• LithiumSSO token

Calls to the REST API via FreeMarker customizations are authenticated on the back end automatically.
